I have a new grandson named Maxwell, nicknamed Max. I wanted to see how popular (or not) the name has been over the years. I didn’t update my data past 2020 but I think the trends are clear.
The female exact equivalents of Max and Maxwell were virtually non-existent, but Maxine was quite popular in 1919-1920, tapering to almost nothing around 1980. The graph was almost the L-R mirror image of the male Maxwell graph.
