The child weighed\u00a0only 9 pounds, about half the size of an average child his age, and was extremely dehydrated. The story brings to light just how dangerous alternative diets can be for very young children.<\/p>\n<p>The baby, identified only as \u201cLucas\u201d by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-4510762\/Baby-dies-parents-fed-gluten-free-diet.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> The Daily Mail,<\/a> was raised on a gluten-free diet consisting of quinoa milk, rice milk, oat milk, and other alternative milk products. Upon noticing their child\u2019s diminishing health\u2014the boy was described as extremely thin and \u201cgasping for air\u201d\u2014his parents, named only as Peter S and Sandrina V, took him to visit a homeopathic doctor.
